Experience Capri
Your visit to the Amalfi Coast would not be complete without visiting Capri, with enough time to enjoy the many sites, caves and idyllic swimming spots along the way as well as have some time to explore the island of Capri at your leisure. There’s a lot to do on Capri like take in the many places of interest and enjoy lunch, a bit of people watching and even indulge in some shopping at the exclusive boutiques in the town center.
Suggested tour Itinerary
- An early morning start is always a good idea and your meeting point would be at the Cassiopea desk on the main beach of Positano.
- We recommend taking a leisurely cruise along the Sorrentina coastline and once you arrive at the island of Capri it is worth making several stops around the island to take in the beautiful grottos such as the Grotta Bianca (White Grotto), the Grotta dei Santi (Saints Grotto) and the Grotta Meravigliosa (Marvelous Grotto) inside which you find the most marvelous stalagmites and stalactites.
- When cruising around the island there are numerous wonders along the way including a Natural Arch, which watches over a small pond, believed to have been formed by the collapse of a cave.
- When you cruise past the beautiful and mythical “Faraglioni” and on to Marina Piccola, which used to be a fishing village, you will recognise the lighthouse at Punta Carena, from postcards and travel articles, as you head along the western coast.
- Our suggested itinerary takes in all of these Island features. Ideally we will cover at least half of the features in the first half of our excursion following which we dock at Marina Piccola where you can disembark to explore Capri at your leisure. We recommend Marina Piccola as the point of disembarkation rather than the larger and busier Marina Grande due to the congestion at the latter and also because there is a 100 euros dock fee.
- From the Marina Piccola dock you are able to reach the town by taking one of the island’s little buses (only a 15 minute ride away) or by taxi to the famous “Piazzetta” . Whilst the square is quite small, it is the center of the island and the ideal spot to enjoy a drink and watch the passing parade. Leave enough time to explore the island’s historical sites (Villa Jovis, Certosa, Augustus Gardens,Villa San Michele of Axel Munthe). Remember to save some time for shopping in the many luxurious boutiques!
- To return to Positano you would meet back at Marina Piccola at a pre-arranged time to board the boat for the remaining coastal tour of the island and across the sea following the Sorrento Coast.
- It is worth bearing in mind that during the excursion our Captain will keep an eye out for a suitable spot where you can take in a swim or two, dependent upon weather conditions. We will provide you with beach towels and the boats feature a shower to rinse off.
- Finally the excursion cost includes non-alcoholic refreshments and a glass of Prosecco, upon request we can provide snacks and alcoholic drinks
- Life jackets are provided on all our excursions.
Early booking is essential! As our excursions can only accommodate up to 12 people, it is important to book as early as possible.
We suggest you bring along sunblock and a jacket or jersey should the weather turn cool, and comfortable walking shoes. Although the Mediterranean Sea tends to be calm, if you suffer from seasickness we suggest you take a preventative remedy prior to departure.
Featured below are the three boats that we use for the Capri experience. They are 33 feet in length and all of them have comfortable cushioned sun decks, toilet and shower. There is also a shaded area at the rear for those wanting to avoid the sun. Our boat accommodates up to a maximum of 12 people.
Booking availability is typically from the early April to end October.
